The Amos Blanchard House and Barn Museum in downtown Andover, Massachusetts, recreates the life and times of a typical middle-class family of the early 19th century.  Educational programs and changing exhibits explore many aspects of Andover's fascinating 350-year history.  For information on Museum tours and hours, click here.

The Andover Historical Society, founded in 1911, maintains the museum and operates a library, archives and research center where objects and documents of local historical significance are collected, preserved, exhibited and interpreted.  For information on the library, click here.

  • Upcoming Exhibit News

    Following up the very successful "Main Street Memories' exhibit, The Andover Historical Society is seeking contributions from the community to support the upcoming exhibition titled, From Near and Far: 350 years of Making Andover Home, due to open February 2009.

    The Andover Historical Society is particularly interested in what drew newcomers to Andover, what the process of settling into the Andover community has been like and how the town has evolved as new recipients have made Andover their home. If you have photographs, documents, memorabilia or a story to share about why you, your family, your business or organization moved to Andover, the Historical Society wants to hear from you. Some topics of particular interest include:

    Mill workers ancestors: Smith and Dove, Tyre Rubber, etc
    Local educational and religious institutions
    Families and businesses who moved here with the construction of I-93 or I-495
    Raytheon and other 'tech boom' arrivals
    Other personal family stories

  • All New Girl Scout Afternoons scheduled for Winter 2008-2009

    The Andover Historical society is pleased to announce four afternoons set aside especially for Girl Scouts. These workshops are fun and educational experiences that are sure to please your troop members. Sign up Early as space is limited!!!
