About the Exhibit

‘Main Street Memories’ was an exploration of the constant and intriguing evolution of Main Street in Andover over the past 150 years. Visitors enjoyed a walk down memory lane, recalling such Andover icons as Dalton’s Pharmacy, Hill’s Hardware, and Ford’s Coffee Shop.

The exhibit featured photographs, sketches, objects, and memorabilia from Main Street businesses and the Town House. A special section displayed conceptual art and sketches from unrealized plans to renovate downtown in a study called “The Andover that Never Was.” The centerpiece of the exhibit was a reproduction of Ford’s Coffee Shop, using booths and fixtures from the original restaurant.

'Main Street Memories' was featured from March 28, 2008 through November 6, 2008 at the Andover Historical Society,
97 Main Street, Andover, Massachusetts. The exhibit was curated by Historical Society Curator Andrew Alexander Grilz.
